Irish mezzo-soprano Anne Marie Gibbons studied at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin and at the RNCM, Manchester.  International appearances include Begbick (The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny) at Covent Garden, The Page (Salome) in Adelaide, David (Saul) in Paris at the Versailles Handel Festival and at the Buxton Festival, Mozart’s Requiem in Madrid, Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s St Matthew Passion at the Lausanne Festival,  Rosmira (Partenope) at Les Azuriales Festival, Siegrune and Gutrune in Wagner’s (Ring) at Birmingham Symphony Hall,  Anna (Maria Stuarda) at Cadogan Hall, Flora (La Traviata) at Queen Elizabeth Hall,  the title roles in Teseo and Ariodante for English Touring Opera,  Vivaldi’s Gloria at the Sage in Gateshead, 2nd Lady The Magic Flute with WNO and Pippo La gazza ladra for Opera North.

As Company Principal with English National Opera roles included  Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Anna (The Trojans at Carthage), Ascanius (The Trojans), Ino (Semele), Sister Mathilde (The Dialogues of the Carmelites), Pitti-Sing (The Mikado), Flora Bervoix  (La Traviata), Bacchis (La Belle Helene), Nero  (Agrippina), Kasturbai (Satyagraha) and Annio (La clemenza di Tito).

In Ireland credits include title roles in La Cenerentola and Ariodante along with Begbick (The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny) for Opera Theatre Company, Lola (Cavalleria Rusticana) with The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Schumann’s Das Paradies und die Peri and Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’ete with The RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Handel’s Messiah with both The Irish Baroque Orchestra and The Irish Chamber Orchestra, Petite Messe Solennelle and Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Christ Church Cathedral.

Anne Marie’s discography includes Zulma (Elvida) and Abra (Il diluvio universal) for Opera Rara, Sister Mathilde (The Dialogues of the Carmelites), Zulma (Italian Girl in Algiers) and as guest soloist on Gerald Finley’s Great Operatic Arias for Chandos.

Recent appearances include Verdi’s Requiem, Dublin, Mozart’s Requiem, Paris, Suzuki (Madam Butterfly) with The RTÉ Concert Orchestra, Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky and Bruckner’s Te Deum with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, Mahler’s 8th Symphony with The Norwich Philharmonic Orchestra, Jenkin’s The Armed Man at Knock Basilica & Dublin and Camilla in Thomas Ades’ The Exterminating Angel with The Royal Opera, Covent Garden.
